About this Episode

First up, we actually talk about what the State of Play Pod is going to be about!

Then, we get into the content. How have Bari, Reggiana and Cesena all declared bankruptcy? What has lead to the tragic demise of these three clubs? As Matt quite rightly says on this episode "No fan should have to see their team go through this". They're not the only italian team in some trouble...indeed the club closest to Matt's heart Milan had some difficulties with their Europa League status...Matt tries hard to hold back the tears as he runs us through this one!

Onto the transfer sagas, we talk Higuain, Caldara and Bonucci. Who's going where?! Is Higuain going to Chelsea or Milan? It seems he's on his way to Milan but it's defintely been (bar Ronaldo!!) the story of the summer so far.

Next, we talk about Anthony Martial. The talented 22 year old Frenchman has a clearly rocky relationship with Jose Mourinho, so who's going to be out the door? Do Manchester United succumb to Mou's demands and give him the money he needs to bolster his squad? Or do they place their faith in Anthony Martial...? If he does move on, where would he most likely go?

Moving over the atlantic, we talked about the talented Canadian international Alphonso Davies. Fresh off scoring 2 goals in a 4-2 victory for the Vancouver Whitecaps, he was actually celebrating a record MLS move to Bayern Munich....he's only 17, and already looks head and shoulders above a lot of his domestic colleagues. Bayern have got themselves a real gem.

Last but by no means least, we had a great player profile as Matt took the lead in talking all about Moise Kean. Although the Italy u19's succumbed to defeat in the World Cup Final, he was instrumental in getting his team back into preceedings with a double off the bench! Where could he play his football this season? What's his ceiling?
